PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The first purpose of the qualification is to provide qualifiers with graduate-level knowledge on the working of the economic and financial systems of South Africa and the influence of the global economy and financial markets thereon.

The second purpose of the qualification is to provide South Africa with a significant number of graduates that can do a prognosis and analysis of the South African economy.

The third purpose is to provide qualifiers with graduate-level knowledge of the instruments and effects of economic policy, such as fiscal policy, monetary policy, and labour policy.

Entry Requirements:
The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is:
  • National Senior Certificate, NQF Level 4, granting access to Bachelor's studies.
    Or
  • Senior Certificate, NQF Level 4, with endorsement.

    This qualification consists of the following compulsory and/or elective modules at NQF Level 5, 6, 7 and 8 totalling 360Credits. 

    EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES 
    Learning outcomes:
    1. Explain the workings of the South African economy, the global economy and financial markets. Also to analyse and simulate economic scenarios.
    2. Interpret general macroeconomic policy and make some recommendations.
    3. Identify, Collect and inteprete relevant economic data, regression and scenario analysis and an overall assessment of the South African economy, applying the use of Econometric models.

    2. Employees capable of rendering services in the financial, and government sectors on an administrative and junior management level.
