PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
To provide qualifiers with:
1. Postgraduate-level knowledge of the field of Molecular Plant Pathology 2. Skills to understand, apply and solve concepts of plant microbe interactions, plant disease development and developing disease control strategies, molecular aspects of microbial diversity and host resistance. 3. To study the complexity of plant diseases, positively contribute to ensuring the national food supply of the country by controlling and preventing diseases outbreaks in crops through genetic manipulation of plants or pathogens. 4. Opportunities for continued personal intellectual growth, gainful economic activity and rewarding contributions to society. 5. To improve the livelihood of South Africans by ensuring healthy and safe food. |
