PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The purpose of the qualification is to prepare students at an advance level for a management and planning career in rural areas. This course targets specifically those that have to operate at policy and operational level in institutions dealing with the socio-economic problems of developing areas.

This qualification is a taught masters degree with mainly course work and a small research report. The purpose of the qualification is to supply the country with qualified people to work in the rural areas to manage programmes and projects to alleviate rural poverty. This is one of the challenges. This qualification is an attempt to make a contribution to this challenge.

Graduates will therefore cover a wide range of courses providing them with knowledge and skills at more depth than at the under-graduate level. The B Inst Agrar (Hons) degree is an exit level degree, which can be obtained after completion of 160 course credits.

First degree: BInstAgrar Rural Development Management or any three year B degree with economics, agriculture or social sciences at 3rd year level.

Honours degree: BInstAgrar Hons ( Agric Econ) or any B Hons degrees
