PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The Master of Science qualification in Applied Nutrition is a course-work based qualification. The qualification aims to provide professionals in the health sciences a sound functional knowledge base in human nutrition in order to provide and to promote health care of the highest standard. Qualified learners also will have well-developed skills to initiate research and be able to write a research protocol in the field of human nutrition. The qualification aims for a learner to demonstrate craftsmanship and to do research under supervision. An attitude of lifelong learning will be fostered, ensuring continuing self-development and development of the field.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.
