PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
A qualified learner is able to initiate, plan, execute, control and terminate a poject within his/her area of expertise in any organisation. A typical role could be that of a Project Manager for an Information Technology Project or a Project Manager for a Business Optimisation Project. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

The qualification will be awarded to a learner who has provided evidence to the satisfaction of the assessors that the stated competence of the qualification, as detailed in the specified outcomes, has been achieved, either through education and training in a single provider's learning programme, or through experience that complies with the stated specified outcomes.

    Formative assessment:
    Assessment is conducted within a modular framework and is directed at evaluating the knowledge, skills and mental disposition as derived from the general job description of, and assumed to be required by a Project Manager. Assessment spans the following on an-going basis throughout the programme.

    Practical assignments based on given case data and scenarios will indicate the learners ability to apply the theory.

    Practical in-class theoretical testing, and demonstration of problem solving based on deliberate case data within predetermined time limits, will indicate the learners mastery of, and ability to integrate the knowledge and skills relative to a particular area of expertise.

    Summative assessment.
    Open ended written replies to deliberate questions will indicate the learners' grasp of the relevant theory. Case studies and practical work that integrate the assembled outcomes, supplement class instruction and promote internalisation of knowledge and skills on an individual basis. 

  • ARTICULATION OPTIONS 
    Learners could migrate to M Tech: Management Practise, MBA and other NQF Level 8 programmes. 

    MODERATION OPTIONS 
    SERTEC and Professional Project Managers supervise moderation of learning programmes and outcomes. 

    CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS 
    The Technikon complies with SERTEC.
