| PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
| The purpose of the qualification is to provide the qualifier with advanced knowledge and practical skills in research methodology, in the field of earth science, in order to solve multi-faceted geological problems and in doing so contribute to the long term social and economic needs of South Africa. A measure of specialisation and a limited contribution to the global knowledge base are commonly inherent in an M Sc qualification. |
