PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The first purpose of this qualification is to provide qualifiers with specialized knowledge, specific skills and applied competence in the field of Soil Science, that provide for continued personal intellectual growth by means of independent research, gainful economic activity and rewarding contributions to society.

The second purpose of this higher qualification is to provide southern Africa with a Soil Science expert, who will have a clear understanding of the interaction between the soil and its environment, based on the sound knowledge and understanding of mathematics, chemistry and physics.

    In line with the requirements set by the University of Pretoria, a degree which is one degree higher than that for which the candidate is enrolled

    Career experience required:
    Research, consulting, extension, management and teaching experience in Soil Science.
