PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
This qualification is intended for top managers or operations specialist managers, within an operations management environment. Persons achieving this qualification will be competent in applying and managing operations management, research, strategies and tools, systems and techniques in the enterprise. The person will be able to optimise the resource usage in a company to benefit the bottom line. The encumber will be able to act independently or as a member of a board. He/she will be eligible to register as a Professional Technician.

The entry level here will be an equivalent NQF 8, MTech Degree in the field of study or equivalent.

The qualification will be awarded to the researcher who has provided evidence to the satisfaction of the assessors that the stated competence of the qualification, as detailed in the specified outcomes, has been achieved, either through education and training in a single provider's learning programme, or through experience that complies with the stated specified outcomes.
