| PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
| The purpose of this qualification is to provide post doctoral opportunities for continued personal intellectual growth and rewarding contributions to Nursing Science and Health care. The development of new knowledge frameworks, paradigms and models as well as theories are included. The extension of the body of knowledge in Nursing Science is intended.
The purpose of this qualification is also to provide South Africa with experts in Nursing Science including Nursing research to ensure that the local and international leadership base of innovative and knowledge based scholarly activity is widened. |

| A minimum of two external assessors from other National and International Education Institutions in the applicable field of study is required.
Two assessors including the second examiner from the Faculty of Health Sciences with external assessors will form the pane. |

Ph D and D Cur Career experience required: Assessors should have extensive experience and proven expertise in the Nursing Science enabling them to asses and judge the contributions of the candidate |
