ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
Integrated Assessment

Theory
Lectures, on either the History of animation or subjects that relate to modern day digital production are followed by mid year tests and end of year written exams.

Practical
Exercises, Projects and Productions [Pre-Prod Sound - Post Prod Sound and Editing]; on every Practical Brief, the assessment criteria is clearly outlined and therefore the Brief doubles as an assessment sheet used by internal and external assessors.

[Note: The subject Life Drawing and Anatomy Study is an exception to the above as student works are assessed at the end of every Term by both the external lecturer and Head of Dept.]

INTERNATIONAL COMPARABILITY
International Comparability can be measured along three criteria:

1] Entrance criteria for International Studios
Research was conducted as to the requirements when applying for a position at top international studios, both in the traditional [Disney] and the modern, more technical forms of Animation Production [Pixar]. The syllabus has incorporated these fundamentals.

2] Local industry
The local industry is considered the first step to an international career. Continuous consultation with local studios, especially those that have experience in dealing with international clients, remains a priority.
[See: External Assessment and Advisory Committee members]

3] International Institutions
The strength of the City Varsity Animation Course is that it forms part of a Film School. The Vancouver Film School was used as reference to help design the integration with in this framework of other specialist courses in Film, TV and Multimedia Production [New Media].

ARTICULATION OPTIONS
Animation covers many creative as well as technical disciplines. A graduate will find it an easy transition into any other curriculum on Film and Television Production, Motion picture design, etc.
