PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
Purpose:
The general purpose of the qualification is to provide learners (that might already be in the fields of management), with more advanced theoretical knowledge, strategic research knowledge and problem solving skills. It also has a purpose to provide application skills to the different specialist areas of corporate communication management, as well as case studies in the field of strategic communication management. In so doing, the qualification enables graduates to contribute pragmatically to the corporate communication management environment. On a metatheoretical level the qualification will provide graduates with a philosophical basis to corporate communication management. The essential elements of independent thinking and integrated assessment are integral parts of the qualification.

Rationale:
This qualification contributes to the full personal development of each learner and the social and economic development of the society at large, by making it the underlying intention of any programme of learning to make an individual aware of the importance of:
1. reflecting on and exploring a variety of strategies to learn more effectively.
2. participating as responsible citizens in the life of local, national and global communities.
3. being culturally and aesthetically sensitive across a range of social contexts.
4. exploring education and career opportunities and developing entrepreneurial opportunities.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
