To make a contribution to new knowledge in the Health Sciences inthe field of Pharmacy through a course work programme and research treatise.

    Specific Outcomes

    Upon successful completion of the programme, learners will be able to assume an advanced level of management of processes and systems relating to pharmaceutical product development, manufacture and supply.

    ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 
    Integrated Assessment

    Continuous evaluation through work-based assignments, relevant to the pharmaceutical industry and needs of people, seminars, presentations and written examinations, followed by a final research treatise. 

    ARTICULATION OPTIONS 
    Qualification shall enable learners to have access to Doctoral degree research programmes in the relevant field of specialisation. 

    MODERATION OPTIONS 
    Internal moderators and where applicable, external moderators appointed for course-work modules.

    External moderators appointed for the treatise component.

    All moderators to meet the qualification criteria in "Registration of Assessors". 

    CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS 
    Member of Staff Academic - Permanent, Full-time of the Departments of Pharmacy, Business Management and Industrial Relations Unit at the University of Port Elizabeth.

    Contractual staff with appropriate tertiary level postgraduate qualifications. Assessors should be directly or indirectly associated with the pharmaceutical industry, and be in possession of at least a Masters level postgraduate qualification in pharmacy, and preferably be registered with the South African Pharmacy Council as a pharmacist. 

    REREGISTRATION HISTORY 
    As per the SAQA Board decision/s at that time, this qualification was Reregistered in 2006.
