| PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
| The degree of Doctor of Education (D Ed) by thesis essentially is a post-graduate degree in education, which aims to combine academic rigour with professional relevance. The purpose of the programme is for learners to show evidence of high academic standards in the content of the thesis and the ability to undertake research independently. It is also the purpose of this programme to produce theses that should respectably stand alongside refereed and published research in the same field and have practical application in the societal context.

They are adequately qualified to assess D Ed students having a D Ed degree or a Ph D. External examiners are selected on the basis of a minimum qualification of D Ed or Ph D, relevant experience and research expertise |
