PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The degree of Bachelor of Education (B Ed) is a professional post-graduate degree in teaching. This qualification's key purpose is the development of advanced theoretical understanding and professional competence as well as an ability to do basic research in education. It is designed to build the competence of expert teachers and curriculum specialists, system managers and educational researchers. Through this degree qualifiers will be prepared to embark on a course of study leading to an M Ed at NQF level 8
