PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
  • To broaden the knowledge that the qualifiers gained during a bachelor's degree course and also enable the qualifier to apply such knowledge.
  • To make the qualifiers autonomous language practitioners, capable of applying their knowledge to a wide range of language and communication problems, of adapting to changing situations and of continuously renewing and extending their knowledge and abilities in their chosen fields.
  • To provide qualifiers with competence and skills from a wide area of subjects and vocational choices encompassing Culture and Arts, Communication and Language, Education and training, Sports and Science and Social Services, all of which allow the Qualifier to contribute creatively to the social, educational and cultural needs of Eastern Cape and South Africa.
  • To teach language with the awareness of its diversity in South Africa and also its diverse cultural underpinnings.
  • To contribute to the development of the Eastern Cape Province, the wider South African Society and the world with applied competence appropriate to strengthening the socio-economic, educational, civic and cultural fabric of society.

    Integrated assessment procedures to ensure that the purpose of the qualification is achieved

    Formative: Tasks, assignments, tests.

    Summative: Examination, research paper. 

  • ARTICULATION OPTIONS 
    Vertical: Can give ground for entry to Linguistic Honours Qualifications.

    Horizontal: Can be transferred to all studies requiring advanced linguistic skills, which represents the entire academic spectrum. 

    MODERATION OPTIONS
