Registered-data under construction

The qualification content is currently being updated for the qualifications with the status “Registered-data under construction” or showing “DETAILS UNDER CONSTRUCTION” to ensure compliance with SAQA’S Policy and Criteria for the registration of qualifications and part-qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) (As amended, 2022). These qualifications are re-registered until 30 June 2027 and can legitimately be offered by the institutions to which they are registered.

 

In all of the tables in this document, both the pre-2009 NQF Level and the NQF Level is shown. In the text (purpose statements, qualification rules, etc), any references to NQF Levels are to the pre-2009 levels unless specifically stated otherwise.  

PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The qualification aims:
1. To introduce Learners to the activities which constitute administration.
2. To equip Learners with skills which will enable them to perform their duties effectively.
3. To enable public officials to interpret governmental policies with a view of effective implementation of the same.
4. To instil in Learners ethical skills for effective service rendering.
5. To be able to build future public managers. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.

Entry Requirements
The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is:
  • National Senior Certificate, NQF Level 4, granting access to Bachelor studies.

  • Demonstrate the depth and broader knowledge and understanding of how to render Administration services within the South African context;
  • Identify and analyse the legal processes involved in Administration services;
  • Keep the complete and accurate records of processes undertaken;
  • Solve the administration problems in accordance with best practices;

    Integrated Assessment:
    A variety of continuous and cumulative assessment methods, take-home assignments, projects, group and individual work, written and oral examinations which will be utilised to evaluate whether learning outcomes have been attained.

    This qualification compares with the following international qualifications in terms of the range of competencies in the learning content offered.

  • Bachelor's Degree of Administration in Public Administration NQF Level 7.
  • Bachelor's Degree of Administration in Public Management, NQF Level 7.
