Registered-data under construction

The qualification content is currently being updated for the qualifications with the status “Registered-data under construction” or showing “DETAILS UNDER CONSTRUCTION” to ensure compliance with SAQA’S Policy and Criteria for the registration of qualifications and part-qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) (As amended, 2022). These qualifications are re-registered until 30 June 2027 and can legitimately be offered by the institutions to which they are registered.

 

In all of the tables in this document, both the pre-2009 NQF Level and the NQF Level is shown. In the text (purpose statements, qualification rules, etc), any references to NQF Levels are to the pre-2009 levels unless specifically stated otherwise.  

PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The qualification aims:
  • To provide qualifiers with graduate-level knowledge, specific skills and applied competence in speaking their home language.
  • To produce South African citizens who can serve the nation with the knowledge of the Tshivenda language as teachers, interpreters, authors, editors, announcers etc. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
    The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.

    Entry Requirements:
    The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is:
  • Bachelor Honours Degree in Tshivenda, NQF Level 8.

    EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES 
    1. Learners should be able to understand how speech sounds are articulated in order to eliminate pronunciation defects (problems), transcribe texts into phonetic orthography.
    2. Learners would be able to understand different word structures, lexicography, terminology, building capacity, sentence formation and analysis of semantic and socio-linguistic problem.
    3. Learners will be able to compare their home language about linguistic feature of other languages and related African languages in Africa. 

    ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 
    The following associated assessment criteria apply across all Exit Level Outcomes:
  • Advance study and research on the delimitation of the field of linguistic of Tshivenda;
  • Study and capacity for further research on the field of Tshivenda linguistics at an advanced level;
  • Have a great depth of knowledge in a complex and specialised are and or specialised or applied area in Tshivenda linguistics;
  • Demonstrate the capacity for dealing with complexity and or contradictions in the knowledge base and making confident selections of tools for the job;
  • Synthesise information and creation of responses to problems that expand into redefining existing knowledge;
  • Independent evaluation of and argument of alternative approaches, and accurate assessment of and reporting on both own and others work, with justification isolation of all qualification predictability in an autonomous manner, full professional and academic communication with other in the field of study;
  • Workwithin a group towards defined outcomes assuming leadership and conflict resolution and effective motivation of others, capacity for actual, production of dissertation that places research within broader context of the field, is capable of withstanding international intellectual scrutiny and contributes original knowledge to the field in question;

    Integrated Assessment:
    A variety of continuous and cumulative assessment methods, take-home assignments, projects, group and individual work, written and oral examinations which will be utilised to evaluate whether learning outcomes have been attained.
