Learners achieving this qualification can carry out mathematical orientated duties in industry, research, accounting firms, banks, business, survey, police, army, actuaries, insurance, education and the financial world.

    ARTICULATION OPTIONS 
  • The learner could go to other tertiary institutions and will bank their credits.
  • Credits from other institutions will be considered for inclusion in the programme.
  • For mathematics modules that form part of other programmes, credits may be transferred should the learner choose to cross over to another programme.
  • Learners may enter the programme at any point, provided they have the necessary credits at NQF level 7a.

    The master's examination papers and thesis are moderated by a mathematician from another university, as approved by the senate.

    External moderators are changed after three years of service 

    CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS 
    The University's own staff will be used as assessors in a manner accommodated within the quality management system of the institution, this would apply to the appointment of outside assessors also.

    A system of second examiners within the institution will be used, together with a system of external examination at exit levels to the qualification. Where professional or statutory bodies are involved in determining the curriculum, they will also be involved in moderation. 

    REREGISTRATION HISTORY 
    As per the SAQA Board decision/s at that time, this qualification was Reregistered in 2006.
