The qualification content is currently being updated for the qualifications with the status “Registered-data under construction” or showing “DETAILS UNDER CONSTRUCTION” to ensure compliance with SAQA’S Policy and Criteria for the registration of qualifications and part-qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) (As amended, 2022). These qualifications are re-registered until 30 June 2027 and can legitimately be offered by the institutions to which they are registered.

  • Provide qualifiers with in-depth knowledge, advanced skills and applied competence in the discipline of Women and Gender Studies that provide opportunities for continued personal intellectual growth, gainful economic activity and rewarding contributions to society.
  • Provide South Africa with significant numbers of highly skilled gender specialists, in a range of areas of expertise in women and gender studies, in order to ensure that the country provide an advanced and accessible level of equity-orientated interventions, and attain a competitive edge in the knowledge-based economy.

    3. Communicate effectively, in both oral and written modes, with peers and the broader community using the appropriate structure, style and graphic support.
    4. Assume responsibility for planning, resourcing and managing and optimising all aspects of processes within complex contexts and assume complete accountability for determining, achieving and evaluating and applying personal and/or group output.

    Assessment will constitute a written thesis that will be examined within the broader university regulations on doctoral thesis examination.
