| PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
| The purpose of this qualification is to provide the qualifying learner with advanced levels of training necessary for applied management and / or applied research within the Forestry industry and related fields. |

| Upon entry to the M.Tech programme, it is assumed that learners should have demonstrated the ability to:
S apply advanced appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities to more efficiently manage technical and managerial aspects of a business within the forest industry, S apply the appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities to undertake entry level research projects within the forest industry. through the successful completion of a: S B.Tech degree in forestry or equivalent (480 credits), S evidence of practical experience and professional development in the forest industry. |

| The qualification will be awarded to the learner who has provided evidence to the satisfaction of the assessors that the stated competence of ht e qualification, as detailed in the specific outcomes, has been achieved, either through education and training in a single provider's learning programme, or through experience that complied with the specified outcomes. |

| While South Africa still had Technikons, all of their qualifications were registered under the Committee of Technikon Principals. After the Technikons became Universities of Technology or merged with Universities, the qualifications were registered under each of these institutions, and the CTP qualifications fell away (hence the end date of 2006, above). Where relevant, replacement information is s hown in the table above. |
