PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
This qualification is intended for persons specialising in the field of quantity surveying, in the construction and property industries and the Quantity Surveying profession. Persons achieving this qualification will be competent to independently perform services relevant to contract procurement, financial and cost management and property development. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
A qualification in building or equivalent at NQF level 6.

The qualification will be awarded to a learner who has provided evidence to the satisfaction of the assessors that the stated competence of the qualification, as detailed in the specified outcomes, has been achieved, either through education and trainining in a single provider's learning programme, or through experience that complies with the stated specified outcomes. 

EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES

1.1 Analyse financial and cost statements for control and decision making purposes
Analyse and select the appropriate sources of finance for business enterprises

Undertake market study for development purposes
Compile and analyse feasibility report for property development

3.1 Take off quantities and prepare tender documentation for building, civil engineering and electrical and mechanical engineering works
Apply knowledge of law of contracts and standard building and civil engineering contracts
Post contract administration and preparation of final accounts

Critical outcomes:

Identification and solving of problems, making responsible decisions, critical thinking and the application of management, costs, financial and legal principles relevant to property development, and contract procurement, administration and finalisation.

While South Africa still had Technikons, all of their qualifications were registered under the Committee of Technikon Principals. After the Technikons became Universities of Technology or merged with Universities, the qualifications were registered under each of these institutions, and the CTP qualifications fell away (hence the end date of 2006, above). Where relevant, replacement information is s
