The qualification content is currently being updated for the qualifications with the status “Registered-data under construction” or showing “DETAILS UNDER CONSTRUCTION” to ensure compliance with SAQA’S Policy and Criteria for the registration of qualifications and part-qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) (As amended, 2022). These qualifications are re-registered until 30 June 2027 and can legitimately be offered by the institutions to which they are registered.

PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The purpose of the qualification is to provide an opportunity for learners to develop skills to do independent research in English. The qualification will assist the South African nation with highly qualified people who are competent to do research.

1. Display expert, highly specialised scholastic and advanced research skills in English discipline and be able to perform complex and highly advanced procedures across disciplines in highly specialised and unpredictable contexts.
2. Possess in-depth knowledge in a complex and specialised area of English, be capable of information processing at the level of generation, evaluation and synthesis of highly abstract information and concepts; and be capable of creating responses to abstract problems that expand or redefine existing knowledge.
3. Communicate effectively, in both oral and written modes, with peers and the broader English community using the appropriate structure, style and graphic support.
4. Assume responsibility for planning, resourcing and managing and optimising all aspects of processes within complex and unpredictable contexts and assume complete accountability for determining, achieving and evaluating and applying personal and/or group output.

  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge in a complex and specialised area of Arabic is, information is processed at the level of generation, evaluation and synthesis of highly abstract information and concepts; and responses to abstract problems are created that expand or redefine existing knowledge.
  • Demonstrate the use of appropriate structure, style and graphic support in an oral and written mode of communicating effectively with peers and the broader Arabic community.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for planning, resourcing and managing and optimise all aspects of processes within complex and unpredictable contexts.
  • Demonstrate complete accountability for determination, achievement and evaluation of personal and group output.
