PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
The aim of this programme is to provide an opportunity to students to broaden their knowledge in History within the Faculty of Arts. This provides an opportunity to read extensively, to become acquainted with some of the classic texts in the History discipline, to become involved in a conversation with its most important thinkers and to take part in these debates with confidence. The solid basis that is acquired in this way prepares the student for postgraduate research. This provides an opportunity not only to broaden but also to deepen insight in the discipline as specified. |
LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING |
Students with a Bachelor of Arts degree or equivalent (NQF level 6) will be admitted into this programme. Prior learning and/or relevant experience will be recognised for entry into this programme where applicable and subject to Senate's discretion. |

ARTICULATION OPTIONS |
Students who have completed the Bachelor of Arts Honours will be able to continue with a Master of Arts in the specified discipline or an inter-disciplinary Master of Philosophy |
MODERATION OPTIONS |
Modules at this level will be moderated through an external examiner appointed by Senate. The moderating body for this qualification is the Council for Higher Education |
CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS |
An assessor will have at least a Master's degree in the appropriate subject plus a minimum of three to five years' experience in teaching the course. |
