The qualification content is currently being updated for the qualifications with the status “Registered-data under construction” or showing “DETAILS UNDER CONSTRUCTION” to ensure compliance with SAQA’S Policy and Criteria for the registration of qualifications and part-qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) (As amended, 2022). These qualifications are re-registered until 30 June 2027 and can legitimately be offered by the institutions to which they are registered.

Be able to write a thesis and compile from it research articles to be published in international journals based on independent original research in the field of Biochemistry.

Integrated assessment

Progress is continuously monitored.
The final mark allocated for the degree is based on the evaluation and assessment of a thesis based on independent research, two research articles based on the thesis and an oral examination conducted by an examination committee constituted by all academic staff and the external moderator(s) which will allocate the final mark after the oral examination in the presence of the examination committee.

At least two external moderators who should have a PhD and extensive research experience in the field of study or equivalent qualification and experience as approved by the senate on the recommendation of the faculty board.
