PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
  • Personal development and employability: Learners achieving this qualification will be able to carry out mathematical orientated duties in industry, research, accounting firms, banks, businesses, survey, police, army, actuaries, insurance, education and the financial world.
  • Overall competence demonstrated: A qualified learner shall possess sound foundation of mathematics and deep knowledge in a chosen area of mathematics. He/She will be able to create mathematics
  • Relevance: Qualified learners will be able to undertake science and technology research, Pursue an academic career and have the chance to assume a leading position in the secondary and tertiary education system.
  • Academic/Vocational purpose: Any qualified learner, by virtue of his/her training in logic and exact thinking and by virtue of acquired learning and working skills, will master future challenges through continuous learning and adapting. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    The learner may choose from a set of 10 elective modules.
    Emphasis should be given to modules which complement research presently undertaken in the department, namely Topology, Functional Analysis and Fuzzy Mathematics. The concluding project is compulsory.
