The qualification will be awarded to a learner who has provided evidence to the satisfaction of the assessors that the stated competence of the qualification, as detailed in the specified outcomes, has been achieved, either through education and training in a single provider's learning programme, or through experience that complies with the stated specified outcomes

EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES

1. To demonstrate competence on an intermediate level in the following areas:
Performance, arranging / composition and music technology

Specified outcomes:

1. To demonstrate professional proficiency on a chosen instrument (solo and ensemble) as well as the ability to read music at professional level (f) (50 credits) (NQF 7).

To show knowledge of professional principles of arranging/composition and music technology (f) (25 credits) NQF6) (20 credits 7).

To apply and manage research at an advanced level (f)
(5 credits NAF 6) (20 credits NQF 7).

Critical outcomes:

1. Identifying and solving problems in which responses display that responsible decisions using critical and creative thinking have been made.

2. Working effectively with others as a member of a team, group, organisation, community.

3. Collecting, analysing, organising and critically evaluating information.

4. Communicating effectively using language and musical skills in the modes of oral and/or written persuasion.

Integrated assessment:

Formative:
Assessment of learner's progress in theoretical and practical subjects by means of projects, tests and performance.

Summative:
Evaluation of learner by means of final examination, project or performance.

Note: performance in this context refers to musical performance.

The recognition of credits already obtained from other institutions will be dealt with on an ad hoc basis.

While South Africa still had Technikons, all of their qualifications were registered under the Committee of Technikon Principals. After the Technikons became Universities of Technology or merged with Universities, the qualifications were registered under each of these institutions, and the CTP qualifications fell away (hence the end date of 2006, above).
