| PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |

| Exit Level Outcome:
The qualifying learner will be able to undertake and complete successfully a scholarly report that will be a portfolio of relevant research and critical-analytical readings on a relevant topic in a specialised area in English studies, the report will be evidence of systematic and advanced knowledge in English studies. Specified Outcomes: 1. The qualifying learner should demonstrate the ability to make use of the available resources to embark on directed research. 2. The qualifying learner will be able to present a full dissertation which will be a report on research undertaken on an approved topic in a specialized area in English Studies. |

| 1.1 Critical understanding of advanced research techniques in English studies.
