| Offers a unique theoretical and practical learning experience in policy Studies Which prepares candidates to face challenges confronting South Africa in the 21" Century. |

| ASSUMPTIONS OF PRIOR LEARNING: ALREADY IN PLACE BEFORE THE PROGRAMME LEADING TO THE QUALIFICATION IS IN PLACE.
Applicants must have a first degree, at least three years experience in government or related management field at the level or equivalent to that of Deputy Director or above and a working knowledge of English. The candidate will develop the capacity to design, conduct and write dissertation and demonstrate understanding of scientific procedures, research procedures and in depth knowledge to instructional systems. The associated assessment criteria will include proposal writing, formulation of hypothesis, fieldwork, data analysis and report writing. | 1. Assessed during discussion sessions with the supervisor.
2. To be assessed during seminar presentations on the student 's chosen topic. 3. Assessed as the student develops his/her research proposal and begins the search for relevant literature as well as design the research instrument. 4. Assessed on the basis of the student 's involvement with other professionals beyond social work. Integrated Assessment: Assessment includes assignments, written examinations and policy projects. Coursework/mini-dissertation: can include tests, presentations etc also mini-dissertation. Or dissertation only: can include presentation, supervised report, etc also dissertation. |
