PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
This qualification includes the various specialisations. Please refer to "Notes" for details on the specialisations.

1. To provide professional and scholarly training for those science, mathematics or technology educators who wish to continue course work with an area of applied research direct interest and relevance to their work, community or region.

2. To assist teachers in the relevant science and mathematic subject at all levels to improve their teaching and advance their career prospects.

3. To enable participants to gain a deep professional insight into the theory of science, technology and mathematics (STM) education and to address factors which affect the aims of teaching and learning STM

    Career experience required:
  • Internal assessors must be at least of lecturer (or better) level, with at least five years teaching experience
  • External assessors must be at least of senior lecturer and a minimum of five years relevant teaching experience in the relevant subject area

    Other criteria:
  • Must show evidence of active research work in related areas as a lecturer (internal)
  • Evidence of active research work in related area, a must of external examiner
  • Experience as external examiner, an added advantage
