PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The primary purpose of this qualification is to provide learners with an in-depth understanding of specific concepts and theories to understand the theoretical and practical aspects of this discipline, resulting in innovative and creative application in identified areas.
To provide learners with an opportunity to do independent scientific research in Subject Didactics in general. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Applied competence as outcomes:

When entering this programme, the learners should be able to:
  • critically plan and present teaching and learning activities at classroom level;
  • assess learners achievement;
  • read, interpret, integrate and apply academic texts on Subject Didactics;
  • plan and conduct elementary research;
  • work and study independently;
  • critically reflect on their own teaching and learning practice, and
  • communicate verbally and in written format, using a relevant style / register.

    Learners with an average of 65% at Bachelor of Education (Honours) Level.
    OR
    Honours Degree in the specific subject and a Teachers Diploma (at least 120 credits at NQF level 7) should gain access.

    RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING:
    Through formal assessment students with appropriate experiential learning will qualify for access, advanced placement, status recognition or a whole qualification on the condition that the learners continues his/her studies at this institution.

    Regular presentation of research progress. Group discussions on research topics.

    SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT THAT WILL BE IMPLEMENTED:
    Integrated assessment, focusing on the achievement of the exit-level outcomes, will be done by means of assessment of dissertation.

    Learners can continue to a Doctor in Education degree having passed the Master in Education course.
