PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION

The qualified learner at this exit level can independently evaluate, interpret, design, advice train and manage recreation programmes for authorities or commercial enterprises that encompasses the development of physiological, psychological and wellness aspects of a community at all levels
The learner will also be able to conduct scientific research in the field of community recreation / commercial recreation that includes entrepreneurial skills potential.

First degree: Recreation Management or equivalent (Level 7)

The qualification will be awarded to a learner who has provided evidence to the satisfaction of the assessors that the stated competence of the qualification, as detailed in the specified outcomes, has been achieved, either through education and training in a single provider's learning programme, or through experience that complies with the stated specified outcomes

EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES

1. Independently evaluate and manage recreational programmes.

2. Independently design a community recreation project with the industry.

3. Provide an instructional and advisory service on community recreation leadership training.

4. Scientific research in the field of Community Recreation/ Commercial Recreation.

Specific outcomes:

1. Demonstrate the ability to independently evaluate recreational programmes, utilising appropriate scientific methods and techniques. (f 5c 30).

2. Demonstrate the ability to design manage, plan advice and execute a community project of own choice. (f5 c10).

Evaluation by course leader and or a panel by means of group or individual assignments as well as practical evaluation.

4. Evaluation of the dissertation conducted under the supervision and guidance of a senior member of staff.

Integrated assessment:

Assessment by means of integrated theoretical examinations at the end of the level, consisting of evaluation on theory and/or case studies. Throughout the duration of the level practical and theoretical assignments (group and/or individual), as well as theoretical tests, will be assessed to make up a predicate mark.
All students are required to submit a dissertation to be evaluated and integrated into the final marks for the level.

NOTES

While South Africa still had Technikons, all of their qualifications were registered under the Committee of Technikon Principals. After the Technikons became Universities of Technology or merged with Universities, the qualifications were registered under each of these institutions, and the CTP qualifications fell away (hence the end date of 2006, above). Where relevant, replacement information is
shown in the table above.
