PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The purpose of this qualification is for the graduate to have a thorough knowledge of Financial Management and Cost Accounting in order to manage and accounting department and to provide accounting services to commerce and industry.

1. Prepare, analyse and interpret complex financial statements applying GAAP and manage the financial aspects of business up to corporate level.

    1. Apply the Principles of the Accounting Framework (ac 000) to all financial accounting topics and apply accounting standards in preparing financial statements. (c).
  • Calculate and apply all financial ratios of profitability, liquidity, capital structure and assurance of income on a comprehensive bases, prepare interpret cash flow statements in compliance with AC 118 and calculate the cost of capital and advise management on available sources of funds and investment opportunities. (c).
  • Apply advanced techniques, whereby relevant management information is prepared for planning, controlling and reporting of business performance.
    Formulating of long-term plans and applying documentation techniques to implement, operate and maintain systems. (c).

  • correctly prepared relevant management information for the management function. Prepare a realistic strategic plan from given scenarios and preparing documentation and flow charts to implement, operate and maintain systems.

    Integrated assessment:

    Competency is formatively assessed by way of tests and projects, and summatively by way of written and practical examinations.

    While South Africa still had Technikons, all of their qualifications were registered under the Committee of Technikon Principals. After the Technikons became Universities of Technology or merged with Universities, the qualifications were registered under each of these institutions, and the CTP qualifications fell away (hence the end date of 2006, above).
