PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
I. To train general medical practitioners or specialists (Internal Medicine, Paediatrics and Child Health, Radiation Oncology) as Oncochemotherapists in order to reach an acceptable standard in theoretical and clinical competence.

II. To produce professional that are able to serve the individual (the patient with a malignant disease) and the community with scientific insight and conscientiously provide highly specialised health care.

III. To enable the general medical practitioner or the specialist to practise in this discipline both in academic practice and private practise in the public sector.

IV. To extend the expertise/ repertoire of above practitioners to enable them to practise Oncochemotherapy

V. To enable the planning, execution, interpretation and publication of advanced and independent research relevant to the programme

3. To acquire the necessary skills to teach in and carry out research in Oncochemotheraphy on pre- and postgraduate level

4. To acquire in depth expertise in a highly specialised field where new knowledge in treatment regimens is constantly changing and published

5. To acquire a wide spectrum of knowledge of the different pathologies (malignancies)

6. To relate to several medical disciplines as a multidisciplinary approach to the management and treatment of patients with haematological malignancies and other solid tumours

Semester tests in the form of written papers during the period of training, covering all the theoretical aspects of the subject

Applicable research is conducted through a clinical project carried out during the time of study and presented at the end of time of study in the form of assignments

Presentation of the above as a paper at a local or a national meeting in this or related disciplines or publishing this paper in a scientific journal.

Teaching in the form of actively participating in interdepartmental seminars to peers and in journal club discussions

Patient / case presentations at departmental meetings with radiologists, haematological and anatomical pathologists where the pathology of the clinical cases are discussed

Patient / case presentations at interdepartmental meetings with radiotherapists / surgeons / physicians / paediatricians where treatment management of patients are discussed.


INTEGRATED ASSESSMENT


a. Clinical competency is evaluated on daily basis by lectures / consultants and finally tested by a practical examination in the official examination.

b. Theoretical knowledge on the pathophysiology and pharmacology is tested by the two written papers in the final examination

c. Insight in the subject, judicial skills and ability to conduct research in this discipline is tested by the assignment to be handed in at the end of the course.

d. The ability to stay updated in this discipline is evaluated by participation in interdepartmental seminars and in scientific journal club discussions
