PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The (first) purpose of this qualification is to provide a basis for doctoral studies and other learning opportunities.

The (second) purpose is to prepare leaders in nursing with advanced practice skills to meet the health needs of specific client populations and society

The (third) purpose is to foster role development as clinicians, managers, educators, and researchers to improve the delivery of health care of nursing services.

The (fourth ) purpose is to engage learners in scholarly activity and research to advance the profession of nursing through scientific contributions. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

    4. Analyse the social, legal, political and ethical implications of health care issues to influence health policy, health care delivery and the nursing profession.

    5. Use the research process to identity researchable problems, critically evaluate research findings, and participate in conducting research based on knowledge of research in nursing and related health disciplines.

    6. Synthesize knowledge about health care system, including social, cultural, economic and political components, to advance the goals of the nursing profession.

    7. Assume responsibility for continued learning to enhance professional development and contribute to the discipline of nursing.
