PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The purpose of the qualification is to train learners in the fields of economics and business management applied to the agricultural and agribusiness sector.

This degree prepares learners for management careers in agricultural sales and marketing, brokerage, market research, international market development, finance, public relations, food manufacturing and distribution and farm machinery and supply.

A further purpose of this qualification is to prepare learners to be farm operators, either as entrepreneurs or as professional managers in an organisation. Qualified learner will also find many opportunities in farm credit and finance, appraisal and insurance.
The qualified learner will be able to follow a management career in the agricultural and agribusiness sector. The qualified learner will be able to manage farm enterprises and businesses serving the farming sector on the input as well as the output side. An understanding of the principles of economic theory and business management and how it relates to the agricultural and natural resources sector is required.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.
