The qualification will be awarded to the learner who has provided evidence to the satisfaction of the assessors that the stated competence, as detailed in the specific outcomes, has been achieved either through education ad training in a recognised provider programme, or through the accumulation of expertise that complies with the stated specified outcomes

1. The qualified learner should have the engineering technical capability to effectively manage any type of coal mining production operations at middle and senior management level 2. ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

The qualified learner should provide evidence of the technical ability to meet the specific outcomes at mid management level on coal mines through: Operational skills: Demonstrate knowledge of the mine section planning process on coal mines Resource planning including men, materials, machinery Machinery maintenance and utilisation Optimisation of short, medium and long term on any type of coal mining plans Identify geological features that impinge on mine planning and production: Determine profitability margins: Apply best practice methods and layouts: Monitor the services and detect faults in supply of water, electricity, compressed air, ventilation etc People management: Leading a production team to reach production targets safely: Motivate a production team to obtain target production: Explain safety systems applicable to mines: Communication across all levels and by all methods e.g. verbal, written, electronic. INTEGRATED ASSESSMENT: A range of formative and summative assessment methods and techniques in the form of written and practical examinations, verification tests for experiential training and projects where applicable.

While South Africa still had Technikons, all of their qualifications were registered under the Committee of Technikon Principals. After the Technikons became Universities of Technology or merged with Universities, the qualifications were registered under each of these institutions, and the CTP qualifications fell away (hence the end date of 2006, above).
