This qualification does not replace any other qualification and is not replaced by any other qualification.

PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION

The first purpose is to enable students who have already obtained a first Baccalaureus degree (with Classical Hebrew II and Greek II) or equivalent tertiary qualification, to enrol for a second bachelor in Theology and ministry (in accordance with a previously held philosophy of professional training).

The second purpose is to provide qualifiers with the necessary knowledge, skills and applied competencies which would enable him/her to function successfully as pastor in the context of his/her denomination.
The third purpose is to provide the country with graduates which can contribute to the spiritual health and ethical foundations of the South African society.

It will be expected of the student to analyse and explain the Holy Scriptures of his/her religious group (i.e. the Old and New Testament); to understand and integrate the Biblical message into the life context of his/her religious group; to apply the Biblical norms and values to specific social problems; to explain the main theological trends and their value for socio-religious issues.
