PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The first purpose of the qualification is to provide qualifiers on a first post-graduate level with specialised knowledge, skills and applied competence in a particular field or fields of Theology.
The second purpose of the qualification is to provide churches and other religious institutions in South Africa with religious leaders who meet the requirements for successful church ministry and meaningful ecumenical and inter-faith dialogue and co-operation.

The third purpose is to provide qualifiers with a Postgraduate qualification that serves as an entrance point for further Postgraduate studies in a particular field of Theology on a Masters level.

Entry Requirements:
The minimum entry requirements for this qualification is:
  • Bachelor of Arts in Theology, NQF Level 7.
    Or
  • Bachelor of Theology in Community Leadership, NQF Level 7.

  • ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 
    The associated assessment criteria are derived directly from the learning outcomes and provide the criteria against which learner performance demonstrating the attainment of learning outcomes can be judged. The assessment criteria involve, at minimum:
  • That both norm-based and criteria-based modalities are used;
  • Reliability is ensured via internal and external moderation;
  • The standards and levels of achievement required for "pegging" the qualification at NQF Level 6 are met.
