PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The whole qualification aims to accredit an initial teaching qualification for language teachers in Secondary schools.

The second purpose with the exit levels of qualification is to provide South Africa with learners with a background on diverse teaching environments of languages and to allow them to pursue further qualifications.

1. Identifying and solving problems in the field of Languages Education in which responses display valid and reliable decisions, using critical thinking skills.
2. Reflecting the ability to work effectively with others as members of a team, group, organisation or community in the solving of problems that relate to classroom teaching, instructional design, learning programme development, classroom assessment and quality assurance, applicable to Languages Education.
3. Organising and managing oneself and one's actions responsibly and effectively in terms of problem solving and investigation in the field of Languages Education
4. To collect, analyse, organise and critically evaluate gathered information.
5. To supply evidence that the learner is able to communicate effectively using visual language skills in the modes of written paper.
6. Understanding and demonstrating language problem solving principles in a world of related systems.
