| Descriptive entry level:
Capable to apply advanced strategies and techniques in specialist IT field. Qualification entry level: NQF level 8 with 600 credits of which 120 credits are gained through experiential training in the form of the National Diploma (First degree) Engineering: Computer systems or 600 credits in the form of the M.TEch.: Information Technology or equivalent. |

| The qualification will be awarded to a learner who has provided evidence to the satisfaction of the assessors that the stated competence for the qualificaiton, as detailed in the specified outcomes, has been achieved, either through education and training in a single provider's learning programme, or through experience that complies with the stated specified outcomes. |

Specified outcomes: The qualifying learner should be able to: 1.1 Do original Information Technology research which may lead to new industrial developments and/or artefacts, or to contribute to the body of knowledge relevant to Information Technology. (c,f). 1.2 Collect, analyse, organise and critically evaluate information, in order to assess the situation correctly while doing applied IT research. 1.3 Communicate effectively using scientific, visual and linguistic skills. 2.1 Act as project leader and/or study leader for Baccalaureus and Magister students. | While South Africa still had Technikons, all of their qualifications were registered under the Committee of Technikon Principals. After the Technikons became Universities of Technology or merged with Universities, the qualifications were registered under each of these institutions, and the CTP qualifications fell away (hence the end date of 2006, above).
