PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The first objective of the whole qualification is to enable the graduate to act as a Human Resources Practitioner in the designing and implementation of Human Resources Management procedures and systems.

Graduates will possess in-depth knowledge and understanding of the different fields of practice of Industrial and Organisational Psychology. They will also perform according to high ethical values and a professional attitude enabling them to contribute meaningfully to the national manpower development needs and policies of the country

In addition graduates will be able to apply research skills to investigate problems experienced with the procedures and processes, and to advise management on solving of these problems.

B Admin (Hons) Human Resources graduates have a sound knowledge of research methods in Human Resources Management and are able to deliver a written research report of limited scope under supervision. The graduates will also be able to utilize the results, conclusions and recommendations of the report to create new knowledge and solve problems in all the application fields of Human Resources Management and Industrial Psychology.

Group Dynamics
B Admin (Hons) Human Resources graduates will have in-depth knowledge of Group Dynamics methods and are able to design and implement a Group Dynamics programme in the organisation. The qualifying learners will also be able to understand how groups and teams function and influence people to achieve common goals, while the group's work and individual needs are addressed and acquire facilitation and negotiation skills to facilitate all group and team processes in the organisation.

Performance Management
B Admin (Hons) Human Resources graduates will have in-depth knowledge of Performance Management and are able to analyse performance problems and design and implement Performance Management procedures and processes. The graduates will be able to contribute meaningfully to improving the utilization of Human Resources, the productivity and overall competitiveness of the organization.

Career Development and Vocational Psychology
B Admin (Hons) Human Resources graduates will have in-depth knowledge on Career Development and Vocational Psychology and are able to design and implement individual Career Development programmes. Graduates will also be able to support employees to maintain high levels of work motivation and job satisfaction.

Human Resources Development
B Admin (Hons) Human Resources graduates will have in-depth knowledge on Human Resources Development and are able to design and implement a human performance enhancement (training and development) process in the organisation. Graduates will be able to improve the performance of employers and the organization through training and development programmes.

Managing Diversity
B Admin (Hons) Human Resources graduates will have in-depth knowledge of managing a diverse workforce and are able to design and implement a Managing Diversity process in the workplace. Graduates will be able to contribute meaningfully to improving mutual respect and tolerance amongst diverse workgroups in organizations.

Labour Relations
The B Admin (Hons) Human Resources graduates will have in-depth knowledge of the Labour Relations field and are able to design and implement Labour Relations procedures and processes in the organisation. Graduates will be able to ensure workforce stability and productivity in the organisation.

Psychometrics
The B Admin (Hons) Human Resources graduates will have in-depth knowledge of Psychometrics and are able to design psychometrical assessment procedures and programmes to support decision-making in the organisation.

    Assessment includes assessment by the lecturer(s) and peer-assessment resulting in a statement of what the learner has achieved (research conclusions, procedures, processes, etc).

    Assessment criteria will be discussed with the learners resulting in co-operative learning and products, as well as the development of collaborative skills (group discussions, group assignments).

    Authentic testing will also take place where the learners have to use the knowledge in simulated "real life" meaningful contexts and explicit criteria for assessment (case studies; simulations; role play; applied questions).

    Multi-dimensional and cognitive assessments will be combined in assessing the research competencies of learners. The following will be assessed by the supervisor and external examiner:
  • The ability to identify a suitable research problem.
  • Ability to select and implement appropriate research methods.
  • Ability to review the literature critically and document it according to accepted scientific practices.
  • The ability to analyse the data utilising relevant qualitative or quantitative methods.

    MODERATION OPTIONS 
    The use of memoranda, internal "shredding sessions" of test and exam papers, external examiners at exit levels.
    External examiners and moderators are contracted for all exit level assessments. An independent report is submitted to the Dean of the Faculty on the standards, effectiveness and relevancy of the assessment procedure.
    The programme will be inspected and evaluated by the Board for Personnel Practice. 

    CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS 
    Qualifications required:
    Internal assessors: Master or doctorate in the field of practice which is taught.
    External assessors: Master or doctorate degree, and recognised expertise.

    Career experience required:
    University experience.

    Other criteria
    Practical experience in the relative areas of specialisation or the lecturing therein
    In the case of professional training, applicable registration with the South African Health Professions Council and the SA Board of Personnel Practitioners.
