The purpose of the qualification is to provide the qualifiers with postgraduate research competencies to plan, execute and write up scientific research in the field of Geo-informatics.

MODERATION OPTIONS 
Internal and external assessors are used and the learner is assessed on the written thesis and articles.
Assessors are chosen on academic qualifications and relevant practical experience. The research proposal is to be approved by the research committee of the department and the title of the dissertation by Faculty. The oral presentation and assessment is attended by other senior members of Faculty and other interested persons 

CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS 
Qualifications required:
Relevant qualification on the same level as that for which the candidate is enrolled

Career experience required:
Suitable experience in the field of Geo-information Management

Other criteria:
External evaluators must be approved by the Faculty
