| PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
| The first purpose of this qualification is to provide qualifiers with specialized knowledge, specific skills and applied
competence in the field of Horticulture, that provide for continued personal intellectual growth by means of independent research, gainful economic activity and rewarding contributions to society. The second purpose of this higher qualification is to provide southern Africa with a Horticulture expert, who will have a clear and contrinuously growing understanding of the interaction between the plants and the environment, based on the sound knowledge and understanding of the functional anatomy, physiology, growth, genetics, nutrition and management of fruit and ornamentals, as well as the factors influencing the quality of the end product. |
