PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
Building on the undergraduate work, the focus the Honours programme will be to broaden the student's knowledge and skills in the tourism sphere and to provide a sound strategic framework and approach to the management of tourism organisations within the dynamically changing environment. Given the anticipated growth in the tourism industry, both globally and in South Africa, the overall goal of the Honours programme in Tourism Management is to equip the students with the necessary advanced knowledge, expertise and strategic skills to enable them to enter the tourism industry at a competitive level and to add value to the tourism industry in the operational, managerial and strategic spheres.

After completion of the B Corn (Hons) (Tourism Management) programme the graduate will be have the advanced competence to strategically operate and/or manage the key functional areas of a tourism business within the changing environment.
