| PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
| The purpose of this qualification is to provide students with an exit qualification out of a Master's degree after the successful completion of the coursework, but without having done the research component. |

By the end of the programme learners will be able to: A. Practical Competencies: 1. Plan and conduct basic and independent investigations into educational issues, using critical and evaluative arguments. 2. Transform abstract data and concepts for given purposes. 3. Identify and define complex problems and apply appropriate knowledge and skills for their solution. 4. Relate new information to broader issues than education. 5. Work effectively in research teams in order to generate solutions for existing problems of practice. B. Foundational Competencies: 1. Master theoretically sophisticated subject matter within a comprehensive knowledge of a field. 2. Master advanced theory and apply it to a specialised field. 3. | ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA |
| The criteria for assessing learners are based on the specific outcomes that are listed above. In order to qualify, learners must be able to:
1. Suggest possible solutions or ways of addressing existing problems currently being experienced in education through their reading and interpretation of various texts. 2. Integrate thoughts from various sources in order to construct their own version of educational thinking and theory. 3. Critically assess readings from various sources by comparing these with a coherent framework of educational thought. 4. Generate solutions to existing problems encountered in the educational system. Integrated Assessment: The range of strategies that will be employed to ensure that the specific and critical cross-field outcomes are integrated comprise: Assessment strategies designed to assess the learning taking place in the coursework part of the degree: 1.
