PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION

This qualification is intended for writers, directors and animators in the field of motion pictures. The qualifying learner will be competent in creating inter-active motion pictures.

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

First degree: Motion Picture Production or an equivalent qualification (judgement of equivalent qualifications will solely rest with the academic department offering the course); or

BTech: Motion Picture Production (Directing); or
BTech: Motion Picture Production (Persuasion); or
BTech: Motion Picture Production (Inter-active); or
BTech: Motion Picture Production (Scriptwriting); or
BTech: Motion Picture Production (Editing); or

The National Certificate: Motion Picture Production (Directing), together with:
A three year diploma or degree that specialised in computer programming or graphic art or fine art or art design; or
BTech: Motion Picture Production (Production); or
BTech: Motion Picture Production (Cinematography); or
BTech: Motion Picture Production (Sound Design), or

Recognition of prior learning:

A Professional animation or special effects portfolio that covers a full time career of at least five years. Judgement of the portfolio will rest solely with the academic department offering the course.

CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS

Assessors in the Technikon are accredited by SERTEC, according to the minimum requirements laid down by SERTEC.

NOTES

While South Africa still had Technikons, all of their qualifications were registered under the Committee of Technikon Principals. After the Technikons became Universities of Technology or merged with Universities, the qualifications were registered under each of these institutions, and the CTP qualifications fell away (hence the end date of 2006, above). Where relevant, replacement information is
shown in the table above.
