PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The general purpose of the Bachelor of Science Honours in Applied Mathematics is to equip students with a deep theoretical body of knowledge in Applied Mathematics so as to enable Graduates to undertake professional work or progress on to further learning at Masters level. Graduates will have coherent and advanced knowledge of the underlying principles and concepts in one or more disciplines of Applied Mathematics and related research principles and methods.

Rationale:
To focus on increasing the levels of trained Personnel/Graduates in the field of Applied Mathematics in order to address the need in the job market as well as to increase the pool of available students for further research training.

    Integrated Assessment:
    Assessment methods for each module are through traditional methods such as assignments, tests and examinations. In the case of the project only the final report is assessed. The assessment is conducted after completion and submission of the report. As with the other modules, independent external moderation follows the same assessment format as the internal examination. 

  • INTERNATIONAL COMPARABILITY 
    This programme is comparable to similar qualifications offered at other institutions, nationally and internationally.
