| INTERNATIONAL COMPARABILITY |
| The qualification was compared with the Postgraduate Diploma in Mathematics Education offered at the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka offers a Post Graduate Diploma in Mathematics Education.
At the University of Colombo (UC) the qualification is designed to meet the requirements of secondary mathematics teachers and others who want to obtain a qualification in Mathematics Education and contains substantial mathematics content beyond the undergraduate level that will promote the learning of mathematics and teaching of mathematics. The qualification has less face-to-face classes so as to make the learning more effective and suit those who cannot attend full time. The qualification outcomes of this qualification are similar to UC in that it focuses on the deepening of the learner's mathematical knowledge and mathematical pedagogy beyond the undergraduate level, and in the case of this qualification, at the appropriate NQF level. Like the qualification offered by UC, there is a strong emphasis on mathematics content in this qualification. UC does not offer a research-based mathematics project (as offered in this qualification) but offers modules in Contemporary Theories and Methodologies in Mathematics Education. |

| This information shows the current accreditations (i.e. those not past their accreditation end dates), and is the most complete record available to SAQA as of today. Some Primary or Delegated Quality Assurance Functionaries have a lag in their recording systems for provider accreditation, in turn leading to a lag in notifying SAQA of all the providers that they have accredited to offer qualifications and unit standards, as well as any extensions to accreditation end dates. The relevant Primary or Delegated Quality Assurance Functionary should be notified if a record appears to be missing from here. |
