Purpose:
The primary purpose of this qualification is to: Rationale: There is a shortage of qualified Information Technology(IT) professionals in South Africa. Most academic institutions only address the technical side of Information Technology(IT) by means of courses in Computer Science and Informatics. Many corporates have expressed a need for qualifying learners that understand how to apply technology within a business environment. Learners who complete this qualification will have a strong business background together with an understanding of how to utilize technology on an enterprise level. The business community is dynamic and also change continuously requiring new needs in South Africa and internationally. With the mass exodus of Information Technology(IT) and management skills from South Africa it has also become imperative to accelerate the delivery of qualified people. This qualification therefore aims to deliver immediate benefits to business. This qualification will equip the learner to cope within a changing Information Technology(IT) environment to meet above-mentioned objectives. |

1. Demonstrate their competence at applying the basic theoretical principles of problem identification and solving in the field of Information Technology Management correctly and reflect on the application made on the process of problem solving (problem solving skills).

Plan and execute basic research in Information Technology Management, by gathering, analysing, synthesising and interpreting the relevant information correctly and reflecting on basic research undertaken (research skills). 3. The following Associated Assessment Criteria will be assessed in an integrated manner across Exit Level Outcomes:
Integrated Assessment: The qualification is coherently aligned in that all teaching, learning and assessment activities are linked to module and qualification outcomes. Assessment methods are varied and includes summative and formative assessment to enhance applied competence from learners and facilitate authentic assessment and learning. Assessment will not only be used to determine whether outcomes were achieved, but also to generate data for grading and provide feedback in order to improve the curriculum. For all the assessment purposes: understanding of basic IT principles and advanced Information Technology(IT) and advanced Information Technology (IT) principles to be achieved, theory and practical evaluation will be used. For achieving the assessment purpose on integration of Information Technology(IT) principles a practical evaluation assessment method will be utilised. |
