PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
Purpose:
The purpose of the qualification is to enhance the employability of the learner in the commerce sector in the area of specialisation studied and to apply educational knowledge, skills, principles and methods to exercise management functions required for a human resource manager.

Rationale:
The qualification responds to the needs of the community, to business and industry needs and in life-long learning and the appreciation of the value of education and society.

Recognition of Prior Learning is implemented through the University policy.

    This qualification consists of compulsory modules at Level 8 totalling 120 Credits.

  • Labour Relations 20 Credits.
  • Career Management 20 Credits.

    1. Demonstrate the ability/skill to achieve the major skills/applied competency of the qualification.
    2. Demonstrate an understanding, by the learner, of the embedded knowledge that underpins the end result/outcome.
    3. Demonstrate ability/skill to integrate or connect our performances and to reflect on, evaluate and adopt the above competencies. 

    ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 
    The following Associated Assessment Criteria will be assessed in an integrated manner across the Exit Level Outcomes.
  • Demonstrate an advanced understanding of relevant theories and practices.
  • Critically analyze theories, examples and case studies.
  • Use his/her knowledge to offer suggestions for solving human resource management problems at the community and national levels.
  • Demonstrate increasingly competent research and reporting skills.
  • Use library and other resources effectively to suit his/her individual needs and to conduct a limited research project.
  • Act responsibly as a scholar (appropriate referencing, avoiding plagiarism etc.).
  • Use numbers and statistics appropriately and with accuracy.
  • Follow conventions of scholarship in the various disciplines under study.
  • Think independently and offer evidence to support his/her decisions.
  • Report on psychometric results to reflect the information obtained with psychometric tests.
  • Practice the ethics pertinent Human Resource Management.

    Integrated Assessment:
    The assessment approach is an integrated approach horizontally and vertically to ensure that Exit Level Outcomes have been met. Formative assessment: Learning and assessment are integrated. Competence is achieved, through continuous assessment by demonstrating the ability to achieve the outcomes of the qualification. Tests and assignments based on the learning material and students are given feedback. The process is continuous and focuses on smaller sections of the work and limited numbers of outcomes. Summative assessment: Examinations assess a representative selection of the outcomes. Summative assessment tests and a written research report also the student's ability to manage and integrate a large body of knowledge to achieve the stated outcomes of a module. Assessment is in alignment with the University rules and the assessment policy of student learning. 

  • INTERNATIONAL COMPARABILITY 
    This qualification, presented by the University of Limpopo, is comparable to similar national and international Degrees. The Degree is accredited with the Higher Education Quality Committee of the Council for Higher Education in South Africa.
